Bowling with Oma and Opa

Oma and Opa are in town this week. The boys love it when they visit and everyday until they came I was asked when they are coming. Now whenever they go back to their hotel I am asked when they are coming back. This afternoon Oma and Opa took the boys bowling. With Opa's help both boys learned how to roll the ball down. Carter seemed to think it was better to kick the ball down like a soccer ball. However this time, compared to last time, he was able to carry the ball all the way to the lane and get the ball to the pins without stopping. The boys had a lot of fun and can't wait to spend more time with Oma and Opa this week.

Spring Blizzard

We had a mini blizzard roll in Thursday and as a result Justin stayed home Friday. Tyler woke up to his nap and went outside to help Justin shovel. He had a great time walking through the snow drifts and then helping daddy make two mini snowmen (the snow didn't compact to well to make a big snowman). Carter woke up just in time to enjoy some hot chocolate. It was a nice, quiet, relaxing day thanks to the crazy Colorado weather.

At It Again

I am off most of this week for Spring Break, which makes the perfect opportunity for potty training Carter. He has been in underwear, expect nights, since Sunday morning and so far is doing very well. Only two accidents so far and he is showing signs of improving every time he goes. He has a potty chart and has already received his first prize - a Popsicle. I am hopeful that he will continue to have successes and we can have no kid in diapers for at least a couple months.

Tyler also has a new chart - a getting himself dressed chart. This morning he came into the bathroom where I was with Carter totally dressed by himself - not much left of a baby in him at all anymore.

Show and Tell

On Friday it was Carter's turn to bring snacks and to bring an item in for show and tell to his class. He is with older kids on Fridays, about 6 months younger than all the other kids. However he keeps up with them great and has never had an issue in the class. Carter and I went to the store together where he picked out his snack (graham cracker bunnies, apple slices, and apple juice) and when we got home we told him to pick out a toy to bring. Carter doesn't really have a "favorite" toy. He pretty much plays with anything and everything. He also isn't attached to anything for bedtime or naps like Tyler is. Carter went and found Byron - his teddy bear that we took pictures of him with every month of his first year. He was very excited and held Byron in his lap the whole way to church. He then carried all around church. I am told he did a good job showing Byron off and letting everyone hold him. He is getting pretty grown up.

Favorite Things

Carter has been testing to the max lately (how may times do I need to say something before he will listen??), but both boys have also been very sweet lately.

*We decided to go to Old Chicago's for dinner the other night. Both boys LOVE pizza. However Carter was in a mood and said he didn't like pizza. Tyler goes over to him very nicely and says "Carter you like pizza so you just try some ok?" Carter responded that "I can't like pizza". Tyler very sweetly puts his hands on Carter's cheeks and says "You will like it. I like pizza and so will you ok?" Once we got to the restaurant Carter inhaled his pizza, as usual.

*I ended up working in Carter's room today. They were about to sit down for lunch when one of the teachers asked who wanted to pray. Carter said he would. He only got as far as "Thank you God", but it was very sweet regardless. I guess he asks to pray pretty frequently.

*We are about to go full force on potty training Carter next week, he has been doing very well the last couple days and as a reward he got some gummy bears - he calls them gummy gums.

*I don't think I have blogged about this - forgive me if I have. The boys haven't said it in a while and Tyler said it yesterday. Whenever the boys get something in their eyes they tell me "I have a waffle in my eye".

*On that same note. Carter loves Band-Aids or bam baids as he calls them. The tiniest little scratch and he needs one. Tyler on the other hand - terrified of band-aids.

*On the playground at church today the boys played together almost the entire time. If they weren't playing together they were running back and forth looking for each other. Life is good.

Good Friends

By the time the boys wake up from their naps I am pretty exhausted. I try to rest when they are napping but I am still tired. The joys of the beginning of pregnancy. Because of this the boys have been playing on their own together a lot more. Most of the time the play great together and I love to watch it. Usually it's Carter following Tyler's lead, but every once in a while they switch roles. The only downside is occasionally they can get a little crazy and start running around destroying things. However I am well aware that this is mostly because they want me to play with them as well. I am hoping my energy comes back soon and in the mean time we are reading lots of books and I am enjoying watching them play. Here is a picture of them sitting together on a stool. They did this totally on their own, arm around each other and everything. I lobe seeing how they are becoming close friends. Life is good.

Carter Singing

I find it somewhat ironic that we have a few videos of Tyler singing, when really the singer in our family is Carter. He loves to sings and does it quite often. Here is a video of him singing some of his favorite songs.

Still Together

When baby number three comes the boys are going to switch to the downstairs bedroom. We have also decided (for now) that so we will still have a guest bed the boys can share the double that is down there already. Eventually the boys will move into bunk beds, but I am not ready for Tyler on the top bunk yet. I don't think the boys will mind the new sleeping arrangement at all.

Favorite Things

I am going to try to remember some of the sweet things the boys have been doing lately.

  • The boys are only suppose to have their plugs during bedtime and nap time. However Carter finds anyway possible to get his during the day. The sweet part - he always gets one down for Tyler as well and finds Tyler to give it to him, even if that means being caught by me.
  • The boys love giving raspberries to my tummy - they say they are tickling the baby.
  • The boys also love to kiss my tummy. The conversation from Tyler goes like this: "I am going to give my baby sister a kiss. Now Carter you give your baby brother a kiss." Tyler wants a sister and Carter wants a brother, Justin and I were relieved to see only one baby in there at the ultrasound.
  • Tyler still has his great imagination. He always tells me he "wants to be something". Then he tells me what he wants to be - a police car, a parrot, a bear, and then he acts it out of course
  • Tyler is also drawing other people into his imagination. The other night he was Dickens, I was Oma, and Justin was Opa. He went back and forth from Justin and I just cuddling with us.

Heartbeat

On Monday Justin had off so the four of us went together to my ultrasound. The boys were very excited to see the baby and Justin and I were excited to see the heartbeat flickering away. The boys wanted to see the baby's eyes and ears...we told them next time they could see those.

Today the weather is once again gorgeous - 70's at the beginning of March! - so we headed off to the zoo! As always we had a great time. The otters were doing laps in their enclosure which was fun to see and the carousel was running again so the boys were very excited about that.

I really need to get on the ball more with blogging. They boys are being so sweet to each other and I keep forgetting about it when I sit down to post. They have their moments, but for the most part they are really sweet boys.
