Wrestling

We took the boys to their first wrestling tournament last weekend. They made it an hour which I think is quite impressive for two very active little boys. Of course the donuts and nachos helped a lot. At first they were very into and were cheering on the wrestlers. They liked looking out for pins and yelling "Go Go Go!". During the tournament Tyler acted like he wanted to wrestle like they were wrestling. Then he said he didn't want to be a wrestler, he wanted to be a fire fighter. Justin told him that wrestlers are strong and exercise so later on they can be strong enough to be fire fighters. Later that day Tyler asked if Army men were strong when we said yes, he said he didn't want to be one. He said he wanted to be a daddy because they weren't strong (ha!). It then came out that he didn't want to be strong because he didn't want to wrestle the big kids. Of course as soon as we got home all they wanted to do was wrestle. I think we my need to hold off on the wrestling clubs a few more years.

Emergency, Emergency!

The boys still have a huge fascination with fire fighters, policemen, and ambulances. This scene is very common in our house. Every emergency vehicle we have is out and "working" on some emergency. Carter really loves to say emergency when something goes wrong. Many times we hear "Tyler emergency, emergency, I can't find my shoe (or something else) you need to come help!"

Walmart Truck

Tyler has been saving his chore money for some time and the other night we went out and he bought his first toy all on his own. The checkout lady was very nice and didn't mind letting us count out all the coins, luckily it wasn't very busy. Out of all the toys what was it that he wanted? A Walmart truck of all things. He loves it though and brought it to show and tell at school very proud of his purchase. With the rest of his money he wants to give to the people whose "houses fell down", aka the people in Haiti. While the Walmart truck wouldn't have been my first choice, its once again another sign of how grown up he is becoming.

Building Away

The boys have gotten pretty good at putting together their legos and lincoln logs without much help. The build towers, fire stations, farms, and houses at least once a day. Here is one of the farms they built with just a little bit of daddy's help. Pretty impressive I think!

Winter Wildland

OK this happen almost a month ago at this point, but I still need to blog about it. Like we do every year we went to the zoo at night to see the zoo lights. We went after Christmas this year so Jack Frost was there instead of Santa. The boys talked to him no problem. They loved feeding the giraffes inside their house so they were very close. Tyler seemed to not like all the crowds so he wanted to skip a few of the animals. We did get to see the tigers being feed however. We all got a special treat of hot chocolate and cookies before watching them feed the hippos - the boys favorite part. Then we came home way past bed time where the boys fell fast asleep on the way home. Like all zoo trips it was a great time!

Finally!!

It's been a long time coming but I am happy and very proud to announce that Carter is potty trained!!!! He still has to wear a pull-up at night, but has everything else down. He tells us when he needs to go, or just walks to the bathroom by himself and goes. There are sometimes we wish he was a little less independent. Like when he went number 2 in the potty but didn't tell us tell we found out later when he had no underwear on, just fleece pajama pants, and little pieces of fuzz attached to his bottom mixed in with everything else. But hey at least is he doing it!!!!

One of the Sweet Moments

This happened a while ago, but as we can all tell I am way behind on the blog. The boys made a tent with the parachute they got from Toby and Norah and then brought books and other toys up to play with. Carter wanted Tyler to read with him, while Tyler was happy to read on his own. However, being the caring brother he is, he tried not to hurt his feelings. Carter would say "Tyler look at this" and Tyler would say "yeah" without really looking up from his book, but at least he was acknowledging him. Then when Carter was looking at a book with hidden pictures he would ask Tyler where something was. Tyler would stop for a second, find it, and then go back to his book. It was very cute to watch and I was very proud that he didn't get annoyed or angry with Carter, but still treated him with love.

Another Ultrasound

Yesterday I was being paranoid and my stomach was cramping some so I called the doctor and they had me come in. Everything looked good but they still wanted me to come in later in the afternoon for an ultrasound. Justin joined me and we brought the boys as well. Luckily everything turned out just great. We got to see the heartbeat and the baby moving its arms and legs. Very fun. When we left the ultrasound room we went to see the doctor again. Carter asked where the t.v. was. I told him this room didn't have one. He then said "but how can you see your baby". Tyler responded "mommy doesn't have a baby. its' gone". Carter then answers "no she has a new baby in her tummy". Tyler responds "no, God hasn't made one yet". After that they moved onto something else. For now we aren't going to mention it. We were surprised that it was Carter who picked up on it, when it was Tyler that wanted to see what was going on during the ultrasound (Justin kept the t.v. blocked from their view).

What Happens

Tyler went back to school today - thank goodness! I think we are already to be back into our routine. Sorry for the blog lapse but the boys didn't take naps hardly at all during Christmas break, which meant not a lot of time for me to sit down and blog. Trust me you haven't missed much besides whining, tantrums, and being very cold outside. They boys have been having fun building towers, zoos, and hospitals with their legos. Tyler also loves his new playmobile stuff. There are times when they play beautifully together and times when they fight all day. They are saying plenty of great and funny things, and of course I can never remember them. But it's pretty much been the same old stuff around here and adjusting to being back to normal after all the Christmas activities. This is what happened around 4:30 everyday since they played through nap time.
