Its a.....

GIRL!!!!!!!!

I had my ultrasound today and my 20 week appointment. I was nervous because I still really haven't felt the baby move. However we found out that my placenta is right in front, which is why I am not feeling her. She was kicking like crazy even though I couldn't feel her She was also curled up on her side, with her feet in her mouth and stayed in that position most of the time Her heartbeat was at 157 bpm, she looks perfectly healthy and is measuring in the 87th percentile right now. Because of her position there is no denying that she is a she. Justin even saw it on the screen before the ultrasound tech told us. She asked if we wanted to know and if we would believe her when she told us. I said "yes, its a boy right?" and she said "nope its a girl!"!! I am immediately yelled "what!" and "are you sure" and she was 100% . Justin and I both teared up a little and its still very surreal to think we will have a daughter. Most importantly we are happy that she seems so healthy.

After the ultrasound we went a picked up a pink onesie and then picked the boys up from school early. We showed them the onesie and asked them if they knew what it meant. They immediately said it meant a girl and went and told their teachers. They then ran around the church carrying the onesie singing "we are going to have a sister" and telling everyone they saw. It was so cute to watch and I love that they are excited to be big brothers to a sister. Can't believe its a girl!!!! If anyone has any suggestions for a new blog name let me know!

Sweet Boy

I know I have talked about Carter's heart for others before, but I just can't get over how sweet of a boy he is. Yesterday Nolan was having a fussy day (something totally out of the norm for him), To help him stop crying Carter sang a song to him. The lyrics went something like "Hush little Nolan don't cry, I love you and your crying will hurt my ears so don't cry my Nolan".  Then last night Tyler had to take his first bath since surgery and we had to take the wrap off. He was very nervous about this and didn't like it at all, he actually asked us if he could be put to sleep for it. He also didn't want Carter in the bath with him (they usually bathe together). Carter came up a few times, as I am sure the curiosity got to him. He asked Tyler if he wanted water and then came to the door saying that he needed to tell Tyler something. He simply told him "Tyler, I love you" and left. So sweet! Last but not least at school they made pretend aquariums - almost like snow globes with paper fish in them. Carter told me he named his Mama, because he "loves his mama so much". Man I love this boy!

Spring Break

The boys are on Spring Break this week, so we have been home. I didn't really plan anything as I had no idea how Tyler would be doing post-surgery. So the boys have been playing outside non-stop as the weather has been very nice. Its been a little to windy for me to take Nolan out however. Hopefully tomorrow won't be as bad so we can head to the park. They boys have also watched and played Star Wars and have eaten popsicles like they were going out of style. Nolan is perfecting his army crawl and quickly getting into everything and has begun the destroying phase that lasts all of boyhood. While low-key so far its been a great break for all of us!

Surgery

On Thursday, Tyler had his surgery to fix his circumcision. We could tell he was pretty nervous about it all week, but he handled it like a champ. Justin and I were also concerned about the anesthesia and how he would react, but he surprised us all and did great. We all went to the hospital at 7:15 where we checked in and got settled into our room. Tyler liked getting his blood pressure taken and Carter was excited he now weighed more than Tyler. They watched some shows in the room when the nurse came in. They had a cancellation so Tyler's surgery would be a little earlier than planned. Around 8:30 I left to take Carter to school and Nolan to the nursery. At that point the anesthesiologist came in, Tyler went back to the o.r. with Justin and did just great. Justin tells me he was very talkative and almost drunk-like. He got a little restless before falling asleep, but he never tried to pull off his mask or anything else. I got back to the hospital about 10 minutes before the surgery was done. The doctor came out and told us that everything went well and how to take care of it. About 5 minutes after that the nurse came to get us as he was waking up. We both got to go back to the recovery room where he was just waking up. He woke up just fine, no crying or restlessness or anything like that. He got to eat a popsicle and pick out a stuffed animal (he picked a police dog) before going back to our room. Back in the room he got jello, apple juice, and chocolate pudding - talk about a yummy breakfast. He was released just as it was time to get Nolan and Carter. We then went to pick up his prescription for pain meds and Tyler said he wanted "Old McDonalds" for lunch. He ate just fine there and was actually jumping around and dancing for Nolan. That's pretty much how the rest of the day went - Tyler running around like nothing had happened. He also went to the bathroom just fine and while we gave him his pain meds to stay ahead of the pain, he really never had any pain once we left the hospital. He was very excited to go get a toy with the gift card from Oma and Opa  - he picked out Star Wars legos that he woke up at 5:45 to get a start on and finished them within a few hours. He also let us know that ravioli (not one of his favorite foods) wouldn't be ok for dinner because of his surgery - he knows how to work it all ready. We have his follow-up in 4 weeks, but I would call it a success and we are all glad its now behind us!

7 Months!!!

Happy 7 months Nolan!!! I say it every month, but I really can't believe you are already 7 months old. It seems too old to me. You are officially a mover and a shaker. You scoot, army crawl, and roll everywhere. You especially like to find all the things on the floor that you shouldn't find, your favorite being paper. The boys are being great about getting things out of your hands that you shouldn't have. You love to clap and love it when we sing to you and read to you. You love to put anything and everything in your mouth, most notably food! We have not found a food you don't like to eat. You  still get cereal every morning, fruit at lunch and veggies at dinner. Now you are at stage 2 foods though so you are getting more. We have also started giving you puffs and cheerios. You are getting much better at getting them into your mouth, however most still end up at the bottom of your chair. Along with your solids you still at 6-7 ounces in a bottle 4 times a day. You now enjoy sitting with us at the table when we eat our dinners or our just hanging out at the table. Your naps at getting longer everyday it seems and you still go down every easy and sleep great at night. You are by far our easiest baby, always having a smile for us and only getting fussy when you are hungry or tired. They say at the church nursery they can not forget to feed you because within 5 minutes of the time I tell them you need to eat you are crying for your food! The boys still absolutely adore you, arguing over who gets to play with you, hold you, or help feed you. None of us can imagine life with you- you bring us some many smiles and so much love!

Dads and Donuts

Thursday was Dads and Donuts at preschool. Since it was at the same time for both boys' classes, Carter joined Tyler's class for the first part of the morning. They were so excited to get to have their daddy there (and Carter was excited to get to play in Tyler's class). Justin told me they got donuts, with sprinkles on them, and some orange juice. However Tyler drank Carter's because Carter didn't want his. They then did a little dance with all the kids and showed the daddies the classroom. Tyler had also made Justin a key chain. On the front was a picture of Justin, on the back was a Star Wars spaceship he drew (it resembled the Death Star). Tyler had to point out the spaceship before anything else. They seemed to really enjoy their morning together and it gets me excited to Moms and Muffins in May!

Sick...Again

For the past week we all have been sick. Carter had it the worst last weekend, having a fever for about three days and a nasty cough. Tyler has a very low fever one day, but that was it. Justin was sick all last weekend with a fever and cough as well. Because of that the boys didn't get to sing at church on Sunday with their classes. They also missed school on Monday. They seemed to handle it pretty well however. On Wednesday night I got sick and on Thursday it felt like I had two black eyes from all the sinus pressure. Luckily I am feeling better now, and Justin was off on Thursday which gave me the much needed rest I needed. We are most happy about the fact that so far it seems that Nolan didn't get any of the sickness that has been floating around. He is a little stuffier and somewhat fussier, so while I don't think he is feeling 100% he hasn't had a fever and no cough - thank the Lord!

16 week Appointment

I had my 16 week appointment today. I was nervous as I still have yet to feel this baby move. While I know I am still early, I has felt movement by now with the other three.  It took them a while but we finally heard the heartbeat. It was once again only for a few seconds before the baby moved. The doctor thinks that my placenta is right in front which is why its hard for me to feel the baby and for them to find the heartbeat. I drew some blood and got to schedule our big ultrasound for March 28th! I will also have my 20 week appointment at that time. I brought Nolan with me to the appointment and he was the biggest hit. All the nurses and the doctors had to come say hi. It also helps that they all know me so well by now! Here is a picture of me at 16 weeks. I am carrying very high and my pants all still fit, which I find odd but since I know the baby is healthy I will take it!
