Swimming Lessons

And lets try this one more time. Yes another round of swimming lessons for the boys, this time at the YMCA. They are doing better - Tyler does really well with the front stroke, but still gets nervous floating on his back. Carter does great on his back, but doesn't always do the arm strokes correctly on his stomach. I am just hopeful they can do well enough to pass a swim test so we can spend our summer at the pool this ye

Garden of the Gods

We are trying to fill our last weekends with things we will miss about Colorado Springs. At the top of the list has to be Garden of the Gods. We enjoyed a wonderful family hike and one of the first things we plan on doing up in Denver is to find a place that we can go hike as a family. Although we are sure there won't be any place quite as beautiful.

Helper Tyler

Tyler was telling us how at class he gets to help a girl in his class. After talking to him about it some I found that that most of the day this girl has an aid that helps her. When I asked Tyler how he felt about helping her he said "I like having a partner because I get to help and I get to be nice". He mostly helps her with math and then with some reading instructions. One of the reasons we wanted our kids in public school is for this very reason. I love that they get to see that everyone is different and I know he is learning just as much from the relationship he has with her as she is as having Tyler as her helper.

Hearing Check

I got a call from Tyler's school telling me they did yet another hearing test on him and he still hasnt passed. This comes as no surprise to us so I took him back to the ENT to see if they think anything hasn't changed. He still has a borderline hearing loss, but they think its time for some action. They are recommending him to get tubes in his ear, and also his tonsils and adenoids out. Because we are moving we will wait til we are in Denver and probably get a second opinion up there. Most kids I know of who get tubes in their ears are younger, but if it helps Ty, I am all for it.

House for Rent

We finally made the decision to put our house up for rent and make the move to Denver. After a lot of work around the house I must say it looks pretty nice. We put the house up and within 12 hours had 4 people interested. While Justin shows the house I get to drive the kids and the dog all over town. Lots of fun. Luckily I only had to do it a couple times before we had a rental. Its somewhat scary and a step of faith, but we are excited for our next adventure.

Giving Hearts

I was out one night and Justin had the kids. He put this as his status on facebook and I couldn't be prouder of my boys. "Pulling into the King Soopers parking lot the boys spotted a guys with a sign asking for help and wanted to know why I didn't stop to help him. I asked how I should help him and they said "give him a dollar". I told them I didn't have a dollar and asked if there were other ways we could help. They offered up mom's umbrella that we never use (good idea since it was raining) and then Tyler figured out we could buy something. So as we went through the store I asked for ideas and we ended up with some apples, bananas, a loaf of bread, jar of peanut butter and two bottles of water. We had the bagger put them in their own bags so we could give them to the guy with the sign, drove out the way we came in and....he was gone. Proud of the boys for recognizing a chance to help and getting so excited about it."

Top Bunk

Carter has been wanting to sleep on the top bunk since we got the bunk beds. We did let him sleep up there once or twice before Tyler was finally brave enough to. Carter's first chance was at Christmas, but because of behavior at home he missed out. Then he was going to try to make it til Valentine's Day, but behavior at school stopped that one. Finally at Spring Break he made it! He loves it up there. Tyler is missing it but they came up with a schedule on their own. Carter will get the top bunk until school start again next fall and then they will swap again. Glad he finally made it!

Big girl Cup

Little Miss Independent. Olivia has been watching her brothers drink out of big cups and now  thinks she is old enough to as well. She insists on drinking out of a big girl cup and not her sippy cup at all times. She does pretty well with it, however when he walks with it it usually ends up spilling. That and the fact that her milk goes bad I would rather her stay on the sippy cup a little longer. I can't believe how she is growing up!

Sickness

Poor little guy. Nolan had five days of fever. We went to the doctor twice and they never could find a cause for the fevers. All he wanted to do was lay around, cuddle, and watch tv. He also didn't eat much. Finally his fever stayed away and he was back to his old self - pretty scary for mommy though!

New Grass

We have been working hard getting the house looking nice to rent it out and part of that was pulling all the rocks out front and putting sod down. The boys had a blast going to get a pile of dirt and ride in our friends truck. Olivia enjoyed helping dig to move the sprinkler system around. Nolan just loved getting to play out front with the big boys all day. Here is a picture of Livi helping daddy.

Zoo

Justin took the day off one day during the boys Spring Break so we could have a family day. We headed to one of our favorite places the zoo. They had just opened the new elephant exhibit and the kids loved it! We had a great day, enjoy the pictures!
