Happy Birthday!!

Happy Birthday to my wonderful husband! Thank you for all that you do for our family and for me. You are the best daddy the boys could ask for and so much more of a husband than I deserve. I love you!!

Christmas with the Cousins

On Saturday we all headed over to Todd and Jessie's to have Christmas with everyone else. The boys were once again so excited to go play with everyone and of course all of their toys. They all did very well taking turns and opening presents without to much chaos. I mean for 8 kids 7 years old and under it was pretty tame. Tyler loves his new camera from Oma and Opa and Carter loves his new legos blocks. They both love their new playmobile toys. While all the kids played downstairs nicely all the adults got to have a nice game of password. We then had a great dinner and we all played some more before heading home. The boys were so exhausted they fell asleep around 6:15 on the ride home and went straight to bed once we got there. Carter didn't eve want to take his jeans off he was so tired. It was a fun time and so great to be surrounded by the family.

On Sunday we meet up with everyone for lunch before the boys had to say bye to Oma and Opa. They took it pretty well when they found out Toby was going to come over still and spend the night again. That night my parents took the adults only to a very nice dinner. Leah, Heather, and Seth come over and watched Tyler,Carter,Toby and Norah for us. We were told they behaved great and went right to bed. We had a wonderful dinner and it was very nice just to be with my brothers, sister in laws, and parents. At the restaurant we said goodbye to Oma and Opa. We are very excited that they will be back in April! It was a great week with them.

Merry Christmas!

The boys woke up around 6:30 and wanted to go right downstairs. We caught them in time and had them hang out in our room for a bit. We then read the story of Jesus' birth before heading down. We told the boys that we were going to wait for Oma and Opa before opening the stockings. They didn't mind one bit when they saw their new workbench from Mommy and Daddy got them sitting in our living room (only little presents in the stockings come from Santa). They had so much fun putting together planes, cars, and birdhouses. Oma and Opa arrived and we had some cinnamon rolls before going to the presents. The boys had a great time seeing what was in their stockings. When it was time for presents Tyler wanted Carter to open the present he got for him first - very sweet. Tyler picked out a police car for him, and Carter picked out a Buzz Lightyear for Tyler. I think we still need to work on what gift the other one would like, not what you would like part. They then had fun seeing all their new presents. Carter loved the dinosaurs and Tyler loved his new cars.

Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve was a hectic day, but fun nonetheless. The boys had a rough morning of disobedience and not listening, but they turned it around for a great afternoon. Oma and Opa joined us that evening and we all went to the Christmas Eve service. I asked the boys if they wanted to come to the service or go to the nursery and they both wanted to go play. However during the service I wished I had brought them in, as I think they would have really enjoyed it. After service we came home and had a few snacks. The the boys got to open one Christmas present. We let them each open their new ornament for the tree. Tyler got Snoopy dressed as a fireman and Carter got a bear coloring. We then went down and watched the Polar Express. The best part was when the kids were worried they were going to miss Santa. Carter calls out "Christmas is ruined!". Once it was established that all was well again Carter yells "Christmas is back on!". We put the boys to bed and Opa helped Justin out together one last gift. We said goodbye and went right to bed ourselves.

Telling my Fam

Justin and I decided we would tell Oma and Opa since they were out here. So on Christmas Eve, after the boys opened their one gift and we started a movie for them, we gave Oma and Opa a box. Inside the box was a picture of the ultrasound. They were very happy and excited for us and told us they wold be happy to come out in August when the baby is due. Today while we were all at Todd and Jessie's for Christmas I wasn't feeling my best. We decided we should probably tell everyone else because of that. So as we were all in the kitchen Justin tells everyone they need to keep their girl stuff just in case we need it. Once again everyone was very excited. We are still a little nervous and taking it one day at a time, but its hard for me not to look ahead and get excited for this new little gift of ours.

Heartbeat!

On Wednesday I had a doctor's appointment and ultrasound schedule. Oma watched the boys and Justin got off early so that he could join me. Once the nurse took us back we went straight to the ultrasound room. It seemed to take forever, but soon enough Doctor Andy started the ultrasound and we saw the heartbeat flickering away. The baby measured at 6 weeks 1 day, and I was 5 weeks 6 days, so pretty much right on. I was instantly relieved. He then did the routine first O.B. doctor visit stuff. My next appointment is in 4 weeks when I will be 10 weeks.

Oma and Opa are here!

On Sunday night Oma and Opa, along with Dickens, arrived. We headed over to Todd and Jessie's Monday morning to see them. They boys love playing with all their cousins and all their toys! That night everyone (Oma, Opa, Todd and Jessie's family, and Bj and Abbi's family) came over for a pizza dinner. Once again the cousins had a blast. They then got to all watch The Grinch Who Stole Christmas, which is always a treat. That night they also got to have a sleepover with Toby in their room. However around 9:30 when the boys were still awake we moved Toby out of the room so everyone could get a little sleep. For the rest of the week the boys had fun with their cousins and Oma and Opa. Oma and Opa were a great help watching Carter while I went to PT with Tyler (which we decided we would stop going and do exercises from home for now) and watching both boys while I had a few appointments. Always wonderful when family is in town!

Greeley Trip

On Saturday we went up to Greeley. Justin covered a wrestling tournament for the first part of the morning, so Heather and I handled the boys. After dropping Justin off, we went over to Mike and Alexa's house. The boys had fun playing with Jade's toys, especially her doll house. Then it was on to Roma's. The boys didn't behave that well since it was well past nap time at this point. We left Roma's and drove around some looking at how Greeley has grown and how the campus has changed - the boys slept during this whole time which was great. We then met up with Lindsay and Randy for some ice cream before picking up Justin. Once we were all together again we headed over to Kyle and Jackie's and got to meet their two nee little boys Isaiah and Josiah. The boys once again had fun playing with their toys and coloring. Soon after Ben and Rachel, with their new son Simeon and Jon and Heather also joined us. We all went to Alberto's for dinner before heading home. It was great to see everyone and meet all the new babies!

Pregnant!

On December 11th we found out that once again we were a family a five. We waited until I was really late this time. Today I had a doctor's appointment, which just confirmed the pregnancy. The due date is August 19th, but I am pretty sure it will be before that. I have another appointment on Wednesday along with an ultrasound. We are hopeful, but trusting in the Lord and taking one day at a time. I am plenty nervous, but trying not to stress.

Christmas Program

Tyler had his Christmas program today at school. Justin took off work, so all of us were there to watch him. He did a great job! After the singing was done he presented us with a gift he made. He of course had to put hair and toenails on his angel! Then Tyler and Carter got to decorate some cookies and have a nice snack before saying Merry Christmas and good bye for a few weeks to his teachers. We are so proud of how well he is doing in school so far! Enjoy the video.

Cookies and Fireman

On Sunday afternoon we did our annual tradition of making cookies and fudge for the fireman. The boys did a great job of helping me cut out the dough and then decorate each cookie. Carter had to wash his hands between each cookie because he couldn't keep his fingers out of his mouth. After a quick dinner we headed to the fire station. The firemen, as always, were very generous and gave us a tour. The boys loved climbing in the trucks, seeing the ladders and hoses and wearing the hats. They also got to see camera that shows heat so the firemen can find people. Of course ever since the boys are playing firemen constantly. We don't mind at all. I would much rather them playing heroes and saving people than Transformers or Spiderman (things they have gotten from church and school).

Christmas with Nana and Bapa

On Thursday afternoon Nana came into town and she brought their new puppy Max. At first the boys kept saying they wanted Max back in his cage, but after a little while they enjoyed playing with him. They also loved taking Max on walks with Nana. On Friday after school we all went to pick up Bapa from the airport. They boys loved watching the planes and seeing the snowplows move around on the runways. Nana and Bapa watched the boys that night while Justin and I went to Drew and Brittney's rehearsal dinner. We were told they did great, had a yummy dinner of mac and cheese and hot dogs, and watched a movie before bed. Saturday Nana and Bapa again watched the boys while Justin and I were at the wedding (which was beautiful). We were told once again they behaved pretty well. They went to the pet store to get Max some new toys, to Red Robin for lunch and had pizza for dinner. Nana and Bapa wore them out so much Tyler was falling asleep at the dinner table. Needless to say they went to bed right away. Sunday morning we exchanged Christmas gifts before heading out to breakfast and saying good bye to Nana and Bapa. The boys LOVE the new legos they got. All they have done since then is played with them. Thanks for a great weekend Nana and Bapa!

OT Eval

Last Wednesday Tyler had his occupational therapy evaluation. Justin got off work early so all four of us went. While I answered a sensory profile, the therapist tested him on his skills. He is at age level or above on everything she tested him on. Things like cutting, visualization skills, etc. She also though that Tyler wasn't very severe. We have noticed that in the past few weeks he seems to have been getting better as well. When we told her that we were thinking of putting him in a gymnastics class she thought that would be great. If we wanted to do therapy we could, but he doesn't necessarily need it. We told we would pass at this time and she gave us things to do at home and things to look for once he gets into school in a couple years to help him with that transition. Tyler and Carter loved playing in the Sensory gym while we were talking and they both did great during the appointment. I am glad to see how far he has come!

Love It!

Today was a wonderful day. Tyler was so helpful and caring all day. I got lots of "let me help you mom" and "mom I used my manners". I also got lots of "thank yous, pleases, and sorrys" things that have been lacking as of late. But the best part was getting the hugs, cuddles and kisses all day. I even got "you are the best mommy in the world" from Tyler. Love it!

Then tonight Justin was hanging up a towel rack in the bathroom. The boys and I were in there "helping". I told the boys that I had my favorite three boys in here. Tyler looks at me and says "and I have my favorite girl" and that I "was his girl". Carter then says that daddy "is his boy". So sweet. Carter then says "Jesus wanted you to be a girl mommy". When I asked him if he thought Jesus wanted me to be a girl so that I could be his mommy he says "yeah cause people need mommies". He then went on to say to say people need daddies and brothers and sisters. When I said but you don't have a sister and you are ok, he responds "yeah Tyler is my brother and my best friend". Life is good.

Tender Heart

We have a few issues with Tyler and having tantrums, whining, and saying he can't do simple things lately - like walk up the stairs or get dressed. Carter has shown how sweet his heart is through all this. The other day Tyler wanted to watch a television show. I told him no and a tantrum started. Tyler followed me upstairs along with the tantrums. I kept putting him in his room explaining to him that he couldn't come out until the tantrum was over - just like we always try to do. One of the times he came out he saw that Carter had a toy lion and cheetah. The tantrum then turned because he wanted the cheetah. As I was putting Tyler back to his room for the 1oth time Carter goes in the room with me to give Tyler the cheetah. Immediately the tantrum was over. I loved that Carter wanted to share with him and gave his toy to Tyler. However I didn't like that he got what he wanted by having a tantrum.

Last night it happened again. Tyler was suppose to be in bed (which getting ready for bed was an ordeal itself) when he came out crying saying he wanted his toy airplane. Justin explained to him that the plane was in his room and he needed to solve his own problems and look for it himself. Tyler kept going on and on until Carter found the plane for him and gave it to him. Tyler then again "lost" his plane and once again it was Carter who found it for Tyler. So sweet of him. Now to figure out how to keep Carter's loving heart in practice, while still getting the message across to Tyler that tantrums don't work.

Snow Day!

Because of the snow Tyler and I both got snow days today. We have had a nice cozy day at home. Tyler did a great job helping me with the laundry. First he sorted it all, then he out all the clothes away in the right drawers and then he even hung up every shirt for me! After we had finished some housework the boys and I went outside. Carter really wanted me to make a snowman. Unfortunately the snow wasn't sticking so it was a pretty pathetic one. When I asked Carter how it was he said "not good!". Once I gave it some arms, eyes, and a nose he liked it a lot better. I then started a snow fight which the boys loved. Carter just kept giggling and giggling. At one point Tyler though snow right into Carter's face. I thought for sure Carter would have a meltdown but he just said very nicely "can you please get this out of my eyes" and then went right back to throwing snow. Once we came in the boys wanted hot cocoa. I went down to check on them, and there they were snuggled up together sipping on their drinks and reading a book together. Now they are watching a Christmas movie before lunch and naps. Life is good.

Winter Weekend

Saturday was a gorgeous day for December in Colorado. It has been cold all week, so it was nice to have one warm day. We spent it running errands, doing some Christmas shopping, picking out our Angel tree kids, and getting our Christmas tree. Since we will be here this Christmas we went and got a real tree. The boys were so excited to see it go on top of the roof and then brought into the house. They were disappointed that we couldn't decorate it right away.

On Sunday the snow began. It snowed all day pretty much. When I got home from work, Bapa was here (Nana had came and left so she could try to beat the storm). We went out to lunch and then ran some errands while the boys and I napped in the car. When we got home the boys wanted to go outside and play in the snow. They didn't last too long, but had fun nonetheless. After dinner the boys and I finally got to decorate the tree. They did a great job putting the ornaments on themselves. Carter needed a little help sometimes and Tyler would ask for advice of where to place the ornaments, but they did a great job. They really liked finding their own ornaments that we get them every year. Christmas gets more fun every year seeing it all through their little eyes!

I Can Do It!

Carter has a new phrase - "I can do it!". He wants to do everything all by himself. He says he can because "I'm a big boy now". He likes to dress himself, which he can do everything but his socks. He likes to put his shirt on backwards on purpose, because he "is silly". He also undresses himself. We find him many nights fast asleep with no pajamas on. He also likes to go potty all by himself. He still however has accidents and will ask to wear a pull-up "because I am little still". Most of the time he can do it all without getting frustrated. If he does get frustrated he just asks for help. I am not minding this new independent streak at all and I can't believe how big he is getting.

Tyler updates

This was going to be an update about all of Tyler's doctors appointments, but his big, the occupational therapy evaluation was changed to next week. So before I forget I decided I would do a quick post about the other two.

On Monday Tyler saw an ENT to see what causing his hearing loss. Besides having a cold, his ears still look great. The doctor thought there were four possibilities. Number 1 - there was some fluid in there that was causing is it that our pediatrician didn't see. Number 2 - that there is some sticky fluid that is very hard to see in there without a microscope. Number 3 - that the bone is getting in the way causing the hearing loss (this is what my pediatrician thinks). Number 4 - that its caused by nerve damage (although this is the less likely). He wants Tyler to come back in after a months time to see if its possibility number 1 or number 2. He will also have another hearing test at that time. If there is still hearing loss we will probably wait another month before we move toward surgery or any other options that are a little more invasive. Since Tyler can hear fine out of his right ear and it isn't affecting anything the doctor is fine with taking his time. I am too.

Yesterday Tyler had another PT appointment. He was quite cooperative and did very well for his therapist. Which I was glad to hear because we had a very hard day at home. After his OT appointment next week we will determine if we will keep going with his PT or not.

So those are the updates. Besides that life is busy but good. We have our harder days with four year old attitude, but for the most part are boys are pretty great.

Another Zoo Trip

On Friday, before Nana, Bapa, and Aunt Dawn had to leave for the airport, we headed up to the zoo. It was a great trip filled with feeding the giraffes, riding the ponies, riding the carousel, and seeing almost all the animals. Tyler got the orangutans to kiss at him again. Carter wouldn't do it because he was "scared of all the people". Since it was in the 70's the zoo was pretty crowded. We also got to see a grizzly bear chewing a branch to pieces while swimming in the water. After the trip we went to a quick lunch before we had to say goodbye. Luckily Nana and Bapa will be back to visit soon and the boys can't wait!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! We have had a wonderful Thanksgiving with Nana, Bapa, and Aunt Dawn joining us. Justin made a delicious turkey, I made stuffing for the the first time (which everyone seemed to enjoy) and the boys got their first tastes of pumpkin and apple pie. It was a great day of hanging out, running to the grocery store many times, watching football and remembering all that we are thankful for. The boys loved seeing the turkey come out of the oven and nothing could top the pieces of pie they got. I hope everyone else remembers all that we have to be thankful for living in this great country and having such a gracious Lord.

Bapa, Nana, and Aunt Dawn!

On Wednesday afternoon, Nana, Bapa, and Aunt Dawn came to visit. They also brought Griffin and Noah along with them. I woke Tyler and Carter from their naps which was probably a mistake. For the first five minutes or so the boys didn't want to do anything but cuddle with me. Once Aunt Dawn brought out puzzles life was fine again. Carter had a blast playing cars with Noah and Tyler loved learning how to play Go Fish with Griffin. Soon after Uncle Boyd, Aunt Sharalee, and Faith arrive. We all played some more before the Gunnison Pedersons headed up to Denver. Once Justin got home we all went to Red Robin for Bapa's birthday. Once again the boys favorite part was watching them sing happy birthday to Bapa. When we came home we got the turkey ready, put the boys to bed, and then Nana, Aunt Dawn, Justin and I played some fun card games. The boys always love it when Aunt Dawn, Nana, and Bapa visit!

Swimmin' Along

The boys had their last swim class tonight. When we got there their teacher handed them cards to give to me. The cards showed whether they passed the class or not. Neither of the boys passed, and Tyler actually was worse off with some skills than he was this summer. One place Tyler didn't pass was basic safety skills. I am assuming this is because he isn't the best listener in class. I was surprised Carter passed that one, because he is the one always falling in the pool. Neither of the boys will submerge their faces for three seconds and they both need help with front floats and front flutter kicks. Carter has the back float down, unlike Tyler, and Tyler has a back flutter kick down, unlike Carter. At the end of the lesson the teacher walked the boys up to Justin and I. Not something she usually does. She wanted to suggest to us that next time we put them in separate classes. I was thinking that if she had passed Tyler then they would have been. i also hope this isn't a sign of things to come. One of the many benefits of having the boys so close is that they get to be in the same classes and later on, on the same sports team (if they want to be). Oh well. Hopefully next time they take the classes the boys will be better behaved and will finally pass, in separate classes. However with budget cuts its unclear when our rec center will have classes again. More than anything we are happy the boys love going to the lessons and Tyler especially loves the water. He is to the point where he runs and jumps in getting his whole head wet. Quite the improvement from a few months ago.

Cute Sayings

Just some more cute things my cute kids have been doing.
  • "Its a beautiful day outside", is said by Carter a few times everyday. As soon as we step outside he says it (even if its snowing). He also says it when I tell him he needs to wear a coat "but its a beautiful day outside so I don't need to" or when I tell them they can't roll their windows down"but it's a beautiful day outside mom".
  • On Sunday morning the boys came into our room as they always do on the weekends. Justin and I hoping to snooze for a few more minutes put some cartoons on. The boys didn't want to watch t.v. so they played Noah's ark instead. Our whole bedroom was the ark (because the ark is big ya know) and the boys sat in laundry baskets for their cages inside the boat. Tyler would go to our bedroom door and say "Look the water is coming we have to shut the door!" and then would close our bedroom door. Carter, being a baby seal, would then say he was "afraid and scared" . Tyler, being a mommy monkey, would then try to comfort Carter. Justin and I were Noah and Noah's wife. Very fun to watch, even if it meant we didn't get any extra sleep.
  • Like I said in my last post Tyler is finally coming out of his shell and talking to people more. When we go to restaurants he asks to order for himself and always says please or thank you to the waitress. We were checking out at the grocery store and it was Tyler who was asking the clerk his name (usually something that Carter does) We went to the mall so I could get some Christmas shopping done. As we were leaving the boys saw that Santa was there. The boys waved and shouted hi to Santa. Since there was no line we let them go and talk to him (they didn't sit in his lap or anything because we weren't going to get any pictures done). Tyler went right on up and said hello and told him his name. When Santa asked him what he wanted for Christmas he said a car. Carter also said he wanted a car. Santa gave them a coloring book and a paper elf hat and said good night. As we were leaving Carter says I asked Santa for a car, but he didn't give him one, he only gave me this (holding up the book and hat).
  • At swim class the other day, which both the boys love, Tyler got in trouble for pulling Carter's hair so he had to go in time out. When Carter gets out of the pool I asked him how swim class was he say "not good". When I ask him why he responds "Tyler pulled my hair, that's why it was not good." The next swim class Carter slipped in the pool a little (he is a little daredevil). When he got out of the pool he tells me "swim class was not good cause I fell". Tyler just comes running up and exclaims "I listened!!" since he didn't have to go to time out that day. He seemed to forget that his teacher had to call him name a few hundred times however.

Thanksgiving Feast

Yesterday Tyler had a Thanksgiving feast at school. In the note I got from the teacher all it said was that parents were invited to come join the class and eat with their kids. So I didn't think it would be a very big things. They also asked to sign up for one item to bring. Tyler was very excited to bring in strawberry applesauce. I went up to join his class and saw all the kids either wearing Indian hats or pilgrim hats that they made. I knew right then that I made a mistake not bringing the camcorder.

The class sung two different songs "I am special" and "Thank you Lord". Tyler had been practicing "Thank you Lord" around the house, so that should have clued me in. Oh well. I did have my still camera so I took a few pictures before the batteries died (doesn't he look thrilled!). Tyler did so well during the performance. He sang every word (although quietly) and did all the hand motions. After the singing was done all the kids went and found their seats at the tables and the parents served them turkey slices, cheese sticks, applesauce, mashed potatoes, and juice. For dessert they got pumpkin cookies. Tyler was very excited for the cookies. It was very cute to watch him interact with some of his friends(although he still keeps mostly to himself). He teacher mentioned to me that Tyler was talking about picking up his aunt from the airport (we picked up Aunt Dawn on Sunday and drove her to Buena Vista to meet up with Bapa). So I was happy to hear that he was starting to talk to his teachers more as well.

A quick PT update - he is already improving having 5 degrees better flexibility in his hamstrings. Also the therapist (Dawn) mentioned that he opened up to her today as well. So glad to see him coming out of his shell!

Thankfulness

Justin and I are always trying to show the boys how blessed we are for what we have and the importance of giving to others. I must say we are much better at showing them this during the holiday season. The boys already remember the red kettles from last year. Every time we go by one (which is at least once a day it seems) the boys ask to put money in. We always let them put a few pieces of change in. Christmas music is already on one station in town 24/7. The boys are requesting to listen to Christmas music whenever we are in the car so that station is on quite often. Today the station was holding a turkey drive for Care and Share. After nap time the boys and I went over and bought a turkey for each of them to give. I kept trying to explain why it was important that we do this for others. I think Tyler gets it at least. Throughout the rest of the season we will also do some other things to show what giving means to the boys. I can only hope that these little things we do now will make a bigger impact on them when they are older. And I hope Justin and I will get better at remembering too do this throughout the whole year.

Tidbits

It has been pretty busy around here. With Justin working more for the Gazette, the boys busy with all their activities, I am busy with church work, and then throw in a snow storm and I get behind on the blog. Here are just some tidbits from the past few days.
  • Tyler has a new favorite thing to do. Make his own peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. He wants to make one everyday for himself for snack and usually asks Carter if he can make him one too. He does a pretty good job from slicing the bread, to spreading on the jelly and peanut butter, to remembering to use a paper towel. Along the independence lines he is also starting to clean himself during bath time. I can't believe how big he is getting.
  • You would think with the new found independence the whining and tantrums would be on the wayside. Unfortunately they seem to be stronger than ever. That combined with Tyler's new attitude and talking back, its been a long few days.
  • I don't think I ever mentioned it, but both boys had sinus infections all last week. They also (thankfully) got their H1N1 shots. They waited patiently outside with me for two hours before the cl inc opened. I was very proud of their behavior and others in line commented on well it was as well. Once they opened the clinic and the line started moving Carter started screaming. He kept screaming until the shots were over (he didn't want his shots). Luckily it only took them 30 minutes to get the 150 people in front of us their shots.
  • Carter's imagination is coming out in full force lately. He is always playing pretend with Tyler. They play animals a lot. Tyler is always the mommy animal and Carter is the baby animal. They also play fire fighters, zoo keepers, and transformers. They have no idea what transformers are, but they play it anyway.
  • Along the lines of transformers, today at church they were both building legos. I asked them what they were building and they told me transformers guns. I told them that we don't play guns, especially at church. Tyler informed me that they were nice guns and they don't spray things. I am glad they still don't have an idea what guns are.
  • I let the boys watch Tarzan the other night. Tyler really liked all the animals in it. Carter seemed to like it, but also got scared in some parts and sad in some parts. One thing that really stood out though was how much Carter paid attention. Tarzan was fighting the cheetah and once he finally killed the cheetah Carter shouts out "He did it!"
  • Tyler is doing well in school He still has some issues with wrestling during recess time. However his teacher tells me he is doing a lot better with keeping his hands to himself during the time they are in class. Hopefully soon it won't be an issue at all.
So there are some tidbits from the last few days. I will try to stay up on the blog better not that the next few weeks should be a little less busy. And even more importantly I am going to try to take more pictures - this blog has been lacking of those lately. We did take the boys pictures at the mall this weekend so the boys picture is from that.

Clean Teeth and PT

Both boys had dentists appointments today. Justin took the day off so we all went to the appointment. While I was filling out paperwork Justin read a book to Carter about what would happen during the visit (Tyler was busying playing). When the boys got called back they went in with no issues. Tyler came out first and asked where Carter was. He told me they weren't in the same room. A few minutes later Carter came out along with the dentist. The boys both did great and neither of them have cavities. Carter also did well enough that he got a fluoride treatment. Both boys were very excited to play with all the treasures they got from the dentist - new toothbrushes, toothpaste, stickers, and a toy. The pictures of the boys are them showing off their clean teeth.

From the dentist appointment we headed over to Tyler's first physical therapy (PT) appointment, which is the reason Justin took off. We were there a little early so we had to wait in the waiting room, but the boys behaved pretty well. All four of us went back to the gym. Carter was a little sad that he couldn't participate, but the therapist let them do a few things together. Tyler seemed to enjoy the hour long session, with getting to get on the treadmill as his favorite part. They stretched him some, which he didn't like, but Justin was glad to see this part. In hamstring mobility they want at least an 80 degree mobility and Tyler was only 60. In Tyler's ankle extension they want at least a 20 degree and Tyler only has 10. So we definitely need to work on getting those muscles less tight and more flexible. It was very nice Justin was there and understood all of this. I was also excited we all could go so I could see what his session looks like. From now on Carter and I will probably stay in the waiting room while Tyler goes in alone. We are going to be doing a lot of exercises at home and hopefully we won't have to have therapy for too long of a time. I am glad we are getting this taken care of now however.

Little Sayings

Carter cracks us up with the things that he says. He talks so well, but still mixes things up. For example he all of a sudden has a fear of automatic toilets, or really any public toilet. He doesn't like how loud they are and has to cover his ears. So whenever we go into the bathroom he always ask "is this a slow one" instead of is it a quiet one.

On the way home tonight Tyler wanted his window down. I told him no because it would be too cold. Carter says "yeah and its too dark too". Because darkness is a factor with the window being down.

During bath time Justin puts Carter's hair into a mohawk, he calls it a dinosaur.

And then a brag from Justin about Tyler. We were out to dinner and the first bar of Ring of Fire comes on (not even words to the song, just the music)- Tyler immediately says "hey that's Johnny Cash!". Well Done.

Three Year Check-Up

Carter has his three year check up. He is doing great and the doctor has no concerns - he is actually ahead in many areas. He did great during the appointment. He was excited to do all the big things like stand on the scale, get his blood pressure checked, and wear a gown (which he wore for 5 minutes before taking it off). His stats are: weight 32.2 lbs and in the 55%. height 36.5 inches and in the 25%, his bmi was 17.1, and his blood pressure was 84/58. Yes he is only .6 lbs less than his big brother. We were a little worried about when to start portion control with Carter, as he is a bigger eater than Tyler and a little less active. The doctor said so far he is just fine and we don't need to worry about it. If his weight starts increasing above his curve then we would set some limits but right now he is just fine.

Both boys feel asleep on the way to the appointment and Tyler was a mess during it, having tantrum after tantrum. He continues to have them now that we are home. I am not sure if its because a lack of sleep - with the time change he is getting less than normal, if he was hungry - he only ate a little lunch, or if he is sick. They both have had a little cough in the mornings and runny noses, but no fevers. The doctor checked his ears again just to make sure and they still looked great. I am hoping that one of these nights soon the boys will be able to go to bed early and have decent naps. Unfortunately tonight they have to go into work with me so hopefully the mood will change for the better.

Funny Things

A couple of funny things Tyler did today. First he tell me "Mom you want to know the funniest thing about a tootsie roll you have ever hear - did (heard)? Tootsie Roll to the rescue! That's pretty funny!"

And then about 5 minutes later he runs upstairs to tell me there was a raisin in his nose. Luckily it didn't take more than a blow of the nose to dislodge it. So much fun to be the mom of boys.

Lies, Lies, Lies

The boys have entered a new phase in their development - lying. I am glad to know that it is just a milestone in their development, but its not a fun one nonetheless. This morning one of them had taken the sheet down from their window that we use to keep the sun out. When I asked them which one of them took it down they both said "not me". I told them they would both be disciplined if I didn't get the truth and evermore they would be disciplined for lying to me. Tyler quickly piped up and said "it was me". I thanked him for telling me the truth and that was the end of it. Tyler has gotten in trouble for lying before so I was happy to see he fessed up to it. I would have rather he told me the first time, but the second time is progress at least.

So we go upstairs to clean their room and I see that all of the hangers that were hanging up are now on the floor. I ask them who did it so they can help me clean it up. Once again they both say "not me". When I ask who did it then they both tell me the other one did it. I was assuming it was Carter, as it is usually him who has been known to climb up and take everything down that is hanging in their closet. Tyler then tells me that he was taking down the sheet and Carter went over, turned on the light, and then climbed up and took them down. As Tyler says "it makes sense". So I am trying to get Carter to tell me, but he keeps telling me it wasn't him. At this point I assume he is just being stubborn. So I ask him one by one. "Who took the shoes down Carter?" Carter responds that he did. I thanked him for telling me the truth. When I ask him who took the hangers down he once again told me it was Tyler. So now I am getting suspicious of Tyler again, knowing Carter isn't that good of a liar. After 30 minutes or so go by without either of them telling me the truth I call Justin to see if he had any insight. He tells me they did it this morning. When he went in their room to check on them Tyler was sitting on the dresser and Carter was hiding behind my wedding dress (another no no). So they were both lying to me, but Tyler's story was way more fabricated. They both got punished for lying. I apologized to Carter for making him help me clean it up (I made him after Tyler told me they story that "made sense"). and off we were for the day. We went to the mall to get haircuts (which they both did great for and the picture is to show off the new hair), but they were not allowed to play because they lied to me (the second part of their punishment). As I was disciplining them I kept telling them that they are getting in trouble for lying, not for making the mess. We have also been watching the Boy Who Cried Wolf movies on the computer. I am hoping they get it soon.

Happy Halloween

For us Halloween started yesterday. Tyler had a halloween party at his school so he got to wear his fireman costume. His class did normal activities in the morning an then had a costume parade for all the pastors and other office staff. After that, the parents got to come and enjoy the party as well. Carter and I went, so Carter got to wear his costume too. They decorated pumpkin cookies, played some games, and Tyler showed Carter his classroom. They both had a great time.

That night we went over to wear the boys had soccer last year for a fall festival. They got to play some games in their costumes and get some candy - always good things in the boys book. We met Kevin, Kisa, Westin, and Grace there so the eight of us went out to dinner before Justin had to head to work. The boys behaved pretty well considering they were high on sugar.

Today we ran some errands and then headed to Old Colorado City for some trick or treating. All the shops down there do a safe trick or treating during the day. We thought this was perfect as it would still be nice and warm and in the daylight. The boys got a ton of candy and did pretty well saying "trick or treat" and "thank you" to everyone. The highlight however was that someone got hurt so the fire truck came (the person ended up ok). After they were done helping the person, they let the boys sit in the fire truck. They were so cute in their costumes in the fire truck. Tonight we are heading over to Heather's for her birthday party. I am hoping the boys will be well behaved and fall asleep quickly over there. So far its been a great day.

Pumpkins

Yesterday Justin stayed home from work again because of the snow. We spent the day doing some grocery shopping, relaxing, playing games, and carving our pumpkins. Tyler decided we wanted a pumpkin with a sad face and Carter wanted one with a happy face and 5 teeth. Justin did a great job carving them and the boys love that they are still inside so they can "play" with them.

That night the boys did one of the cutest things. First Tyler went downstairs and brought a book up all on his own and just sat in a chair reading. This isn't that unusual, but it always warms my heart to see. The Carter brought Tyler a book and Tyler "read" it to Carter. They did this for about 4 books before Tyler was tired of reading. Precious.

Imaginary Friends

Tyler has always been a very imaginative child. He is always making up stories and telling them to himself. If you ask him who he is talking to he will tell me no one. Carter has just gotten into having a vast imagination himself, only he has "friends" he talks to.

The other morning he was home with Justin while Tyler and I were out. Carter was on the couch with his feet on the coffee table. He kept saying "that's my spot, no that's my spot, no its mine". When Justin asked him who was arguing he said it was his toes.

Carter and I were going potty when he started saying "no don't turn on the fan". I asked him who he was talking to. He told me it was "Soapy Sarah" and he didn't want him to turn on the fan. I asked him what Soapy Sarah looked like and he told him "Soapy Sarah is a boy." I left the bathroom only to hear him continue "no don't turn on the fan". Gotta love it.

Day of Evaluations

Today was a busy day for Tyler. In the morning we woke up to snow and headed out for his Physical Therapy evaluation. The therapist worked with him for about an hour and a half and then decided it would be best for him to get physical therapy once a week. She is guessing he will need it for about 6 months. The biggest concern is that he has some low muscle tone in his legs, pelvic areas, and lower back. He also has a lot of tightness in his legs muscles which makes him stiff and not as flexible, which then hurts his range of motion. We also got things to work with at home to help him along. They should be calling me soon to start scheduling his PT.

After that appointment we came home for a bit to hang with daddy and Carter and have some quiet time before heading out again for another hearing test. He did another test to check the movement in his ears, which once again showed that he cant hear high frequencies. He then went in the booth again to hear the audiologist talk at different tones. After that was done she put an instrument behind his ears which made the sounds vibrate. Once that was on he heard just fine. She is assuming their is something blocking sounds in his middle ear. She is referring us to an ENT to check it out better. Once that is fixed she is certain his hearing will be back to normal. She also thinks he is doing a well enough job on these tests that we don't need to do the sedation test. So that is a relief. Tyler once again did excellent during the tests. I was so proud of how well he did at both appointments throughout the day. Hopefully we won't have another full day of appointments for a while.

Fall Fun

Yesterday we had a wonderful fall day. The weather was beautiful and we took the chance to enjoy it. We started off heading to Happy Apple Farm to the pumpkin patch. We got there a little late this season so most of the pumpkins were ones they had delivered and not necessarily grown. The boys had fun running from pumpkin to pumpkin finding theirs. Their favorite part always has, and still is, riding on the tractor to and from the patch. After we weighed our pumpkins we had a nice picnic lunch before heading home.

Later in the afternoon we went outside to rake up all the leaves in our front yard. After 10 very large bags, all the leaves were raked up. The boys had fun jumping in the leaves, helping me sweep them off the walk ways and helping daddy rake them up. They then had fun playing in our cars while occasionally helping us put the leaves in the bags. We then went out to dinner and finally got the boys Halloween costumes. They have decided they both want to be fire fighters this year. They fell asleep on the way home and then even slept in this morning. What great day.

October 25, 2009

I wasn't even sure I was going to put up this post, but it an important day for our family so I want to document it. Sunday, October 25, 2009 would have been our third child's due date. Unfortunately instead it's just a day that will always be burned into my head. Over the past six months since we lost our angel we have been doing well, having more good days than bad, knowing it was all out of our hands. Tyler still talks about his baby sister (he always thought the baby was a girl) at least weekly. He tells us, teachers, friends, etc. that his sister is in Heaven with Jesus and Jesus will make him another sister one day. I am happy to see that it isn't necessarily a sad thing for them, but one more of fact and hope. While I do wish that I had a baby in my arms today, I know how blessed we are with the family we do have.

Parent Teacher Conferences and Fun with Cousins

Tyler had his first ever Parent/Teacher conferences today. Since I am used to doing this on the teacher side of things I was a little anxious of how it would go. Tyler is doing great in school however. I have some things we need to work on, such as cutting, but for the most part he is progressing in all the skills, just as he should be in the beginning of the year. Tyler is the youngest in his class, by 9 months to some of his classmates. It was a big decision for us if we should put him in the four year old class where his is and the youngest, or put him in a three year old class where he would have been the oldest. My biggest concern was that we put him in the wrong class. His teacher told me that the only area she can tell he is the youngest is sometimes socially. He doesn't engage the other kids and more parallel plays than interacts. However she is sure as he matures this will come to. She said she absolutely thinks he is in the right class, as the younger class probably would have not been challenging enough. Good to hear for sure.

Today after naps we headed up to Uncle Todd and Aunt Jessie's house. Now that they live so close to us its fun to get to see them so often. The kids played for a while and then decorated cookies that Aunt Jessie made. The boys then played some before before daddy got there and we ate some dinner. They didn't have the best table manners and wanted to eat the cookies more than anything else, but we still had fun. The best part for the boys was getting to wrestle with Josiah. Having another boy to play with is always a good time. It was a great day.

Best Friends

I know I say it time and time again, but my boys are best friends and there is nothing better than that.

First Snow and Updates

The boys got to play in the snow for the first time this year. They were so excited to put on all their gear and head outside. They were even more excited to come in for some hot cocoa. Carter was done before Tyler, as he got cold and refused to wear his mittens. But he did have fun making tracks first. Tyler had a blast throwing all the snow off our patio furniture and eating snow off of the ground. I have a feeling we are going to have plenty of other times to play out this year in the snow.

I also wanted to update on Tyler's hearing. Both of his ear look perfect. No sign of ear infection or any fluid in either of his ears. So on Wednesday we will go back for more testing with the audiologist. My pediatrician said mot likely after this round of tests if it is still showing hearing loss they will want him to have a procedure where he gets sedated to look closer in the ear for any problems. I am trying not to worry about that one before it gets here.

Let's Celebrate!

On Tuesday Justin took the day off so we could have a family day to celebrate Carter's birthday. Carter decided he wanted to go to the zoo. It was actually perfect weather and not very busy at all. The boys practically got to run ahead of us the entire time and had a blast. They off course got to feed the giraffes and see all the other animals. The carousel and train weren't open today, but the boys still had fun.

After some naps at home the boys had swimming lessons. They are in the same class this time, which they were very excited about. Carter, being the daredevil that he is, got over to the deeper ends a few times and would fall into the water where his teacher had to help him up. He didn't really like that but seemed to have fun otherwise. He already has putting his ears into the water like a pro. We were surprised that Tyler didn't correct every one of Carter's move, but I think that is because he was having to much fun himself.

After swimming we headed over to Red Robin where Heather, Leah, and Marj met up with us. Carter loved that the "bird" was there and that they sang to him. They both were a little wound up and tired but made it thru so they could have some ice cream. Carter very nicely shared it with Tyler. After dinner we came back home with everyone and opened presents and ate the cake, a monkey, that Justin made. The boys played with the new toys some before bed. It was a great day!

Happy Birthday Carter!

Can you really be three already? There are many times I stop and remind myself that you are only three years old. You seem so much older than that in so many ways. You keep up with Tyler and all the other kids in your class at church even though you are the youngest. Your vocabulary and knowledge astounds me time and time again.

You have a personality that lights up a room. You are such a ham and you love to make everyone laugh. Your new favorite thing is your fake laugh. A hearty "ha ha ha" always puts your dad and me in giggles. You love to say hello, good morning, and good bye to everyone you meet.

You are such a loving boy. You always have and still are my cuddle bunny. I can always count on you for hugs and kisses. You love to kiss my checks, my eye balls, my eyebrows, etc. If it isn't hugs and kisses its head bumps, knuckles and fingertips. If we are watching a "show" (your all time favorite thing to do) you are most likely in either my or daddy's lap. But beyond the cuddles is the empathy you show to others. You will be the first to say "oh sorry" if you did something wrong, even on accident. If someone is crying you want to know why. If someone is hurt you will come up with ideas to help them, which usually consists of a band aid. You are so observant of the people around you and want to know everything you can about them. If you see a baby you want to be right by them and give them hugs and kisses.

You are a night owl. Night after night your daddy and I have to remind you to go back to room. While Tyler is sound asleep you are up there reading books, doing puzzles, or getting into other mischief. But when you do sleep you are out. We find you in the oddest places and positions. We love to jostle you when you are sleeping because you will take 3-4 minutes shifting around to get comfortable again without ever opening your eyes. It always makes your daddy and I smile.

You love to sing. You are usually the first to ask to put a certain cd on (usually veggie tales) or to sing a song. As soon as music does come on you start dancing away. You love to be outside and to go on walks. For a while you like to run with Tyler, but then you are just as content to walk with me while holding my hand and finding your treasures on our walks. You love to pick up the rocks and sticks you find along the way. In the backyard we will usually find you climbing on things you shouldn't or digging in the dirt. Your favorite thing to do however is play red light green light.

Games games games. You love to play games and do your puzzles. You can do all the puzzles we have on your own (even the ones for 5 and up) but you still request help. It goes back to how you love to be around people. You just want someone to sit next to you while you happily put your puzzles together over and over again. Your favorite person to help you and for you to be around is still your big brother. You guys love to play together, you love to sing together, you love to read together, you just love being together.

You have grown up into such a big boy the past three years. You have become such a sweet, caring, generous boy with a smile that can light up any room. I am so proud of you and who you are. Happy Birthday my Carter bug! We love you!!!

Hearing Test Take 1

Actually Tyler has had a lot of hearing test, so it would be more like take 6. Whenever he has taken a test he has never passed one. This wasn't because we didn't think he could hear, but it was because he would never complete the test. When he was younger as soon as they tried to put the instrument in his ear for him to either hear a beep or to test how well his ear drum moved, he would freak out and not let them perform the test. At his four year old check-up he let them put the instrument in his ear, but didn't say when he would hear a beep. I assumed, as did his pediatrician, that this was because he was either to shy to say, didn't understated the instructions, or was to occupied because something was in his ear than to notice the beeps. So on Friday we went to the audiologist to get another test done just to be on the safe side.

I must say the audiologist did a great job with Tyler. First we went into the booth where Tyler sat on my lap. She would say words into headphones and Tyler would have to repeat them. He did very well and didn't mind the headphones at all. When she came in she told him his right ear was perfect, but his left ear was borderline. Then came the part where he had to put the instrument to measure the ear drum activity into his ear. She let him pick put the ear piece and see that it was soft. She then made him hold the computer part of it so he could be distracted while she put it in his ear. He did awesome! Unfortunately that also showed that his right ear was fine, but there wasn't much movement of the ear drum in his left ear so he most likely has mild hearing loss in that ear. We are going back to the pediatrician this week to make sure he doesn't have an ear infection or anything and then back to the audiologist in two weeks where there will be two of them working with him and doing some more tests to determine the severity of the loss. I think this it the first time I am hoping its an ear infection.

The Gospel - Four Year Old Version

So lately Tyler has been talking a lot about Jesus dieing on the cross. We haven't discussed this in a while so I assume they are talking about it at church (even though according to the curriculum they are discussing the Old Testament right now). Anyway this was a conversation from Tyler to Carter in the car tonight:

"Carter do you know what the holes in Jesus' hands are from? The are from nails that the put Him on the cross. Do you know why He died on the cross? Because He said He wanted All his people to go to Heaven. Its pretty special that He did that. He said All my people will go to Heaven with me."

Can't get much better than that.

Conversation

I love the boys conversations these days. They are always telling each other stories, playing together and talking about their days. When one of them says something wrong (like in the morning and they say its night time) the other one will correct them by saying "you are just joking". We were driving home and drove past where Tyler's swimming classes took place. I told them that in a week they would both be taking swimming classes there. This was their conversation about it.

Tyler: "when you take you lessons you will have to do what the teacher tells you ok Carter?"

Carter: " Ok, and I will do it all by myself" (meaning without me in the pool with him)

Tyler: "Yep and I will show you how to do everything ok. The water will be cold."

Love it.

Carter James

Since the blogs of late have focused are on Tyler and all his new experiences I thought I would devote one to my favorite two year old (who will only be two for a few more weeks).

Carter is such a personable lovable little boy. The hands and face expressions he uses are priceless. He can still throw some of the biggest tantrums known to man and then turn it off like a switch. Within seconds he can go from frustrating you to making you laugh. He is one of the best pouters anywhere and he loves to cuddle and give kisses and hugs. He can be a little lazy and loves to watch "shows". He also loves to meet new people and say hi to anyone we come across. Here are some more of Carter's favorite things:

Coloring. Carter has always loved to color, and unfortunately that could mean on my couch, carpet and wall.s However lately he has gotten very good at coloring in pictures. He can sit for at least a half an hour coloring away.

Carter loves to sing and dance. In the car he tries to sing along to every song. Here he is doing the finger dance. He learned it from me, and I must say he has already mastered it.

Carter still loves to read....and sleep. Here he is trying to do two things at once.

How I love this little boy of mine.

Four Year Well Check

Tyler had his four year well check today. I must say it wasn't the best appointment. We had been talking all about it and about what they would do including his shots. He was already to go in and be big and strong and show the doctor that he was growing healthy and "growing right". We go there and he got his height and weight. He now weighs 32 lbs 8 oz, which is in the 20th percentile, and is 40 inches tall, which is the 50th percentile. He then got his blood pressure and a hearing test. However he wouldn't tell us when he heard a beep so we have to go get another hearing test that will be more behavioral. He then did the eye test. he is at 20/25 which the doctor said most 4 year olds are a little farsighted so he is doing just great.

We then went into the room where the boys just wanted to play. When the doctor came in we had to go over the developmental assessment that I filled out for him. First we went over my concerns that his sensory issues are showing up a lot more and if that in anyway could relate to his iron levels being low again. She at first wanted us to just get OT but then thought that he should get his iron levels tested once again just in case that was an issue. She noticed on the assessment that he can't stand on one leg or jump. She did a few more exercises with him and then made a referral for physical therapy as well as she think he may have a slight delay there as well. Besides that stuff he looks just great and thinks he is thriving.

Then came the shots. He hid under the table when the nurse came in because he did not want them. He had to take 5 of them and I held him down as he screamed through them. He was doing ok until I told him that we needed to go get his blood drawn. The crying, refusing, and screaming started outside the lab door and then didn't finish until we were back at the car. Once he was back in the car he was fine again. Carter was very concerned both during the shots and the blood draw and did not like that Tyler was upset at all. He even came over and tried to give him a hug while the blood was being drawn. Overall it was a pretty good appointment. I am very happy that Tyler is still at a good weight and thriving. I am hoping that the PT will help us out a little in the gross motor skills and he will come out of it with more confidence. As long as he is happy we are happy and luckily Tyler is a very happy healthy boy.

Blog Lapse

Sorry for the lack of posting. We have been busy with school, work, puzzles, tantrums, sweet hugs and kisses, and just life. I also had my 10 high school reunion this weekend which kept us busy. The boys had fun playing at the park with some of the other kids and I had fun seeing some old friends. The boys have been doing well. Tyler is loving school, but is already becoming comfortable there. He has some issues with getting a little out of control and not always listening. There are 7 boys in his class and sometimes they all just want to be boys and not sit and listen. But luckily his teacher is all about them liking school and figuring out what each child needs. Carter is also doing well. He really wants to go to school and get to chew gum like Tyler does. Potty training comes and goes, where sometimes he does great and other times he could care less. We told him he couldn't go to preschool until he was potty trained. However now he thinks he gets to go to preschool now. It will be a long wait. Life goes on here, busy as always, but we are loving it.

Family Weekend

We has a great weekend as a family. On Saturday we took the boys out for a bike ride. Nana brought Noah's bike with no pedals up for Carter to use in hopes that maybe he would ride that when she came and visited last week. Tyler also got new knee and elbow pads from Nana for his birthday so the boys were very excited to go. We went to the elementary school by our house in hopes that a big open space would help the boys. Tyler did very well riding his, only needing help a few times to get started. Carter walked on Noah's bike for long enough for me to get a few pictures before he was done. We then played on the playground before running some errands and heading home. That afternoon Justin took the boys to a local high school football game while I got my haircut. The boys were tired of the game as I was finishing up my haircut so I went to get Tyler and Carter so Justin would watch the rest of the game.

On Sunday afternoon we headed up to Cripple Creek to see the aspens. They haven't all changed yet but it was still beautiful to see. In Cripple Creek we stopped to get some ice cream before heading back down and taking some pictures. When we were out of the car the boys wanted to go hiking. Unfortunately they were in flip flops so we didn't go to far. We got some nice pictures however. Now that high school football season has started its not common that we have the whole weekend together where Justin isn't working. It was a wonderful weekend spent together.

Family Fun Night

Last night at Tyler's preschool they had a Family Fun Night. Both boys were so excited to go, even though they had no idea what they would do there. They had dinner for everyone and the boys really liked that they got to eat Cheetos. Then we went onto all the activities. The boys loved the bounce house, wanting to go on it again and again. They also had a place to make beaded necklaces. Tyler loved his, Carter made his and then took all the beads off before declaring he was done. They also had a beanbag throw into pumpkins, which they boys really liked that they got candy from. Then they had a place to get tattoos and decorate cookies. However the favorite was the elusive cake walk. We donated one item for the cake walk and came home with 4. The boys would have liked to bring home even more. We all had a great time. The best part however was Tyler recognizing new friends from his class. He knows a few friends from the church, but he was really excited to see his new friends there. He would see someone and say "mom look they are from my new school!" He would then shyly go over and say hello. His old friends he played with as well, with no shyness at all. Since the preschool is at the church the boys have been going to for almost 3 years now Carter also knew quite a lot of friends. Being the more outgoing one, he would go right up and wave and start a conversation. Justin really enjoyed seeing them interact with other kids. Quite a sight indeed.

Sick Week

This has been a crazy week in the Pederson house. Besides celebrating Tyler's birthday we have been dealing with a couple of sick boys. First Tyler got the stomach bug on Saturday night into Sunday morning. By Sunday night however he was feeling fine so off to church we went. After coming home from church on Monday and after naps Carter got the stomach bug. By Tuesday morning he too seemed better so we headed off for Tyler's birthday celebration.

When we got back from Red Robin that night, while we were eating cake, Carter was acting very tired. I figured it was just because it was so late and from all the sugar. We went to church the next morning and everything seemed fine. Except at church Carter wouldn't eat all day and just seemed sad. As soon as we got home he got sick again. So I stayed home Thursday, and he was just fine. I think we are officially over it. However the after effects are not. Tyler has now become terrified of becoming sick (it was quite the process on Saturday night) and anytime his tummy hurts he gets very upset thinking he will be sick again. I am hoping the terrified phase will be over soon and we can get back to our healthy happy family.
