Zoo!

One day after Livi's tumbling class we headed to the Denver Zoo. This zoo is much bigger than the one in the Springs, and while we can't feed the giraffes, there is still a lot of fun things to do. The kids love to watch the polar bears and see the seal show. They also liked to play in the water feature river they had. Since it was so hot out, the water was extra nice when we went. We decided to get a membership so that we can come again and again. However I think it will be harder to do the short trips that I am used to at this zoo. Nolan's favorite of course was the elephants, Tyler liked the Tiger, Carter liked the elephants and the penguins, and Livi I think liked everything!

Soccer Camp

At a church down the street from our house, we saw an advertisement for a soccer camp so we decided to sign the boys up. We went and got them some soccer cleats and off they went every morning for a week. They seemed to have a lot of fun every day. On Friday they sang some songs and we had a big barbecue. They met some friends but I don't think any of them will be going to the boys' school. I am just glad they had some fun and are starting to make some connections up here.

Tumbling

We signed Olivia up for a tumbling class at the rec center. She gets to do a little circle time and then gets to run around, walking and kicking things off the balance beam, jumping on the trampoline, swinging n the rings, and practicing things like somersaults.  She seems to love it, and best yet she is usually ready for a great nap when we get home!

HOT!

Its been very hot out and we are finding that our new house does not stay very cool. So we have been spending time at parks with splash parks, eating ice cream, and trying to find fun games to play inside. Of course one day the kids thought they should cuddle under the blankets even though it was about 85 degrees inside.

Mall Trip

One night we took a family trip to the mall. The kids love this mall, as there is a lego store. We went and Carter bought his very own legos. We then also got Tyler some new flip flops. He decided he wanted to get "America" ones and then I had to buy Livi some new shades. Nolan had a blast climbing on things and it was just a fun family night. Slowly but surely this new town is feeling more like home!

Dentist Appointment

On our to do list when we got up here was to find a dentist and get them in. Based on some friends recommendations, we found on e close to home. When I called they suggested that Nolan and Olivia be seen as well. So all four had dentist appointments at the same time. Luckily Justin left work a little early and helped me out (the biggest plus of us moving up here). The big boys did really well and once again no cavities. We were told, again, that Tyler will probably need braces sometime soon because there isn't much room in his mouth. In fact he is losing his baby teeth at a pretty fast rate because his permanent teeth are so big. Carter on the other hand hasn't lost any teeth. If he doesn't start losing them soon, they may have to pull a couple. Hopefully not. Nolan did great as well for his first appointment. Olivia did not do so great. She sat on my lap and really wouldn't even let them look in her mouth, They were able to put a little toothpaste and fluoride on and that's about it. From what they saw though she teeth and coming in great. They were also great with her. The main thing was her just getting used to the whole procedure. Glad everyone has healthy smiles!

Ears Nose and Throat

Tyler had a follow up ENT appointment up here to decide what to do about his hearing loss. This doctor agrees that getting tubes in his ears could help. She also thinks that getting his tonsils and adenoids out as well makes sense for him because he is so restless. So he will be having surgery at the end of July. I have heard the recovery can be kind of hard, but we are hoping his high pain tolerance will be helpful in this. So far he doesn't seem nervous or anything, just keeps telling us that when he doesn't listen to us its because he can't hear us (yeah right!).

New Hiking Trail

We will miss hiking in Garden of the Gods, but we did mention to find a trail near by that was pretty nice as well. It is a pretty easy trail, so perfect for the babies. There is also a little stream that the kids like to play in and maybe one day fish in. There were a lot of bikers, which made us think that we could bike there one day as well. Olivia did get tired at the end, and just sat down and decided she wasn't going to walk anymore and it started sprinkling on the way back to the car, but it still was a great family hike. I am so glad we are finding some new places to go!

New Bike Trail

One of the things they we were looking forward to up here is that we heard there are great bike trails. We were super excited for a nice, not to hot day, to go ride our bikes. We rode on a trail by the boys new school, so very close to our house. It did have a few steep hills, but the boys still did great. The babies once again fell asleep in the trailer as well. We can't wait to go out and explore some more!

Car Show

A church here in town was having a classic car show so we decided to go. It was pretty hot and in the middle of nap time, but we still had a great time. The older two liked trying to find the oldest car there, Nolan just loves to look at cars, and Livi fell asleep in her stroller. Of course she had to wear her sunglasses, her big hat, and have her Minnie Mouse, but she did fall asleep.

Messy Messy

So while the first week went well of the babies sleeping in their new beds, that was short lived. There favorite thing to do every night or in the morning when they wake up is to destroy their room. They pull out all the clothes from their dresser, all the diapers out of the basket, and take all their clothes and socks out of their closet. A complete mess. Once again, because of the older two I know it will be short lived, but man do I hate the mess.

Alabama Shakes

Justin and I got a fun night away to see one of his favorite bands thanks to Jon and Heather. Lindsay was nice enough to come watch all the kids for us as well. It was a great concert and we had a lot of fun. We had awesome seats and Alabama Shakes was amazing and you can't beat Red Rocks for a venue. It was fun to see Edward Sharpe as well. Always nice to have a night out with great friends.

New Pool

One of the main reasons we chose Highlands Ranch was because of the access to the rec centers. We have four rec centers in the city and they each have a different indoor and outdoor pool. Part of our rent get us access to all of them without us having to pay each time. I think how I know we will fill up our summer days! I was worried about taking all 4 by myself however so our first full weekend up here we went to one. The boys wanted to go down the water slide, but had to pass the swim test first. I didn't know how they would do, but was very pleased when they past their test! They can swim well enough to go anywhere in the pool without one of us having to be right by them. One of the pools has an area that isn't any deeper than 2 feet where Olivia and Nolan can play while the older two can go do their own thing on the slides, etc. It is so wonderful that I can take all 4 on my own knowing we will all be safe and not stressed the whole time!
